Innovative Features On Google Maps That You Were Not Aware

Bangalore: Google being a popular mapping tool provider underwent a major redesign in May 2013. Along with an updated look, it also structured some new features to help users navigate and optimize their productivity, reports Mashable

In order to get the most out of Google Maps, whether you’re searching from your computer or from your smart phones, here are five tips and tricks which will make you find your destination easier and faster.

1. Create Multi -Stop Route:  You are able to plan out an entire route in one go. Earlier Google Maps which used to give access for you to map out directions only between two locations has redesigned it. When you input directions, click on plus sign directly under the directions to add the next stop. You can now add multiple stops and design a day’s schedule, all this in one sitting.    

2.Look out Upcoming Events: If you’re out in a new city or just exploring your own backyard, tracking events can take a lot of time. For you to make it easier just select an event venue on the Google map, you will find list of upcoming events which pop up on your computer screen or Smartphone. From there, you will be able to book passes or tickets to whatever you’re interested in.   

3.Visuals without Pegman: The new Google Maps has managed to keep the Pegman and also brought in a photo carousel, so you can view photos of local areas and skylines. Just by clicking the colored squares in the bottom right corner you can open the carousel.  Some areas provide access of a photo tour.

4.Save mobile Maps for Offline Mode: Using maps offline can be complicated. It also eats up fair amount of internet data if you’re not aware. So if you are a person who wants to access directions on the go, simply cache the map before you begin a journey. To do so, look for the direction you require. Then in search bar, type that particular direction or locality and search. This helps you to save the map and later access directions offline.

5.See Google’s Recommendations: If you’re unsure of where to go or what to do? And not very familiar with the new place?  Google had designed recommendations for you. By just typing an asterisk into search, Google auto selects specific attractions near you and locates it on the map. The selections could be café’s, restaurants, shopping malls and other localities in both large and small sizes.
