10 Goof-ups People Do on Facebook

9:25 am

Share it Please
Chennai: Facebook provides a good forum to get connected with peers, share photographs, and to de-stress. However often people turn-off their common sense while on social media and do not care letting the whole world know about their goof-ups. It is advisable to think twice before you hit the ‘Like’ button when your friends picture with fractured limbs. It would be better saying ‘I like it, when Rome is burning’. Read through some common blunders that people do on Facebook as compiled by truTV.

1 Hit ‘Like’ button when someone posts something bad

The ‘Like’ button on Facebook is to be used with providence; else it could end you up in serious trouble. How would your friend feel when you appreciate him over his broken leg or congratulate at the demise of his dear grandpa?

2 Mock cops and law keepers

Be careful about each word of yours when it comes towards police authorities. There are true stories where mocking cops on Facebook got you ‘behind the bar’ status.

Mock a cop and pull the tail, but be careful as not to get nailed.

3 Misspell words for others to see

You may think yourselves as the spelling bee, but the realization that you were completely wrong will strike you only when you start seeing others laughing at it. Don’t go for complicated words or words that you are not sure of while publishing it in an open forum.

Advice: Use dictionary

4 Drink and Facebook

There are many incidents where people have been facebooking while consuming alcohol and thereafter did blunders. An American teen was arrested after he broke into a newspaper office to access his Facebook account to update his current status just after a few toss.

Caution: Keep away from Facebook when under influence.

5 Play Farmville, Mafia War and other time killers

You may have no better job to do, but keep it to yourself. Why let the world known about it. The interactive games on Facebook like Farmville and Mafia war is only to evad your time off.

Go do something constructive, and tell it loud to the world.

6 Automatically posting your Twitter updates on Facebook

All are careful on not missing out on any friends when it comes to sharing the adventurous doings. You may post the same stuff on all the possible places that you can think of to get maximum publicity. After all it does not seem that cool to read repetition.

Cross-posting your boring life makes reading it twice boring.

7 Sharing too may pictures of your pets

Your pet can certainly be dear to you, and there is absolutely no problem in uploading few snaps of those cute animals on Facebook. However it could be annoying if you bombard the social media only with the picture of your pets.

Think about your friends who want to see a picture of yours.

8 Using your childhood photos as profile picture

It is absolutely nice to show the world how cute you looked when you were small. But it is appreciable that you change your decade old snap with some recent ones often. Don’t you want to show off to others how charming you are at present?

9 Status updates on your drunken deeds

‘Drink like a fish, but then don’t drive.’ Giving a little modification to the previously mentioned quote; you may drive but don’t shout out to the world your drunken deeds. Else your situation will not be any much better than the U.S. teen who got arrested soon after he updated his Facebook status after hitting someone else’s car.

His Facebook status said "Driving drunk... classic ;) but to whoever's vehicle I hit I am sorry. :P."

10 Posting your petitions on others wall

‘Save tigers!’ Though it is always welcome to stand for a good cause, too much of petitions posted on your friends wall will certainly be irritating. Your kind heartedness can never become a cause of irritation for others.

Save your friend’s Facebook wall from getting littered before you go out to save tigers!
