Corporate Logos That Underwent Changes In 2013

Chennai:  Logos speak more than words when it comes to the corporate world. The reason behind corporations changing their logos is to refresh a stagnant brand, signify new ownership, or just to make themselves more relevant according to changing tastes. When a new logo replaces the old one it’s like a company got refreshed. Gone those days of shadowing and embossing currently the 3D effects are in trend.

In 2013 some of the corporate have come up with new logo in order to become relevant and successful in the market.

Here are the lists of some of the new logos of 2013:
1. Motorola

 Motorola has the best corporate logo of 2013. Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions are two different entities but originally these are the two broken parts of Motorola, Inc. which was a popular American telecommunications corporation having it’s headquarter in Schaumburg. Earlier in 2009 when Motorola Inc. got bankrupted and company got separated. Currently Google bought Motorola for $13 billion in 2012, and in 2013 the logo was changed in order to prove their ownership. The new logo seems refreshing and attractive; this is the first logo where customers can identify both cell phone manufacturer and its parent company.

2. Dow Jones

Dow Jones & Company is a publishing and financial information firm in America. The company was established by three reporters namely Charles Dow, Edward Jones, and Charles Bergstresser in 1882. In the past this company was publicly traded but privately controlled. In 2007 the company became a subsidiary of News Corporation after they took over the bid. The new logo for Dow Jones was restructured by Rupert Murdoch, and the new Dow Jones logo popped off in both paper and screens in no time. Even The News Corp and 21st Century Fox had excellent logos.

3. WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association)

Have you heard of WNBA? If no then WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) is a women's professional basketball league in the United States. Currently it possesses twelve teams. The league was first founded in 1996, as the women's counterpart to the National Basketball Association (NBA). League started laying in 1997. In 2013 WNBA signed a huge deal with ESPN to start showing more of its games, and they celebrated this news with a new logo, which is the far reaching change on our list.

4. Spotify

Spotify is a commercial music streaming service that provides digital rights management-restricted content from record labels for instance Sony, EMI, Warner Music Group and Universal. A Swedish start-up Spotify AB launched it in 2008 by and there are around 10 million users as 2010 and the number of total users has reached 20 million by December 2012. Spotify came out with its new logo in 2013. The new Spotify logo is simple and clean and it has a 2D look which is known as Proxima Nova and it is much better than the previous logo.

5. Instagram

Instagram is a social networking site which includes photo-sharing, video-sharing and helps its users to take pictures and videos, simultaneously apply digital filters to them, and share them on a variety of social networking services, for instance Facebook, Twitter, etc. Kevin Systrom and Mike Kreiger first created Instagram and launched it in 2010. Instagram was one service in 2012 that grew rapidly with around 100 million active users. Instagram logo is one of the most popular and instantly recognized logo in digital camera .In 2013 Instagram decided to expand from a neat photo-sharing app into a full-blown lifestyle brand thus they came out with a cleaner and professional looking logo.

6. Google

Google is a multinational corporation that specializes in Internet-related services and products in America. Internet-related services includes search, cloud computing, software, and online advertising technologies etc. Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded Google in 1998. Google was nicknamed as “BackRub” originally, and it had experimented with various logos for several years. Ruth Kedar designed the new version of Google logo. The new logo consists of a very simple but powerful wordmark in which company’s name is featured using the Catull typeface.

7. TGI Fridays

TGI Friday's, Inc. is a restaurant chain in America which was founded by Daniel R. Scoggin, and is known for casual dining. It is a unit of Carlson companies and its name has been derived from “Thank Goodness It’s Friday”. The chain is particularly known for its appearance for instance red-striped canopies, Tiffany lamps, brass railings, and antique decor. Currently the restaurant chain has decided to de-clutter its logo by removing punctuation and outlining. Due to its losing market share to some of the local bars across the country, they decided to change its aging look.
