Windows: File path character limit

The total file path length in Windows cannot exceed 260 characters; it may be somewhere between 248 and 260. This is a Windows limit and cannot be changed by you or anyone else.

The file path length includes the drive name (network or local), the folder name(s), PLUS the file name.

‘Characters’ include spaces, punctuation marks, and underscores as well as letters and numbers.

Quick fact: You can’t use any of these characters in a file or folder name: \ / ? : * ” > < | Again, this is a Windows limitation.

Maximum number of files

Windows 7 supports NTFS file system. NTFS, or "New Technology File System" introduced with Windows NT, is a completely redesigned file system.

Remove duplicate files

A hard drive is like a family garage junk expands to fill available space. An
(Solid-state drive) SSD behaves very much the same way, but with less space.

A good duplicate file finder will help you reduce your digital junk levels. It can search for files with the same name, the same size, and/or the exact same contents. It helps you examine each file and decide which one to keep. It can ignore small files, so you can concentrate on the more wasteful redundancy.

Here you can find duplicate file Remover.
